Welcome

The North Dorset area covers Evershot in the west to Shaftesbury in the east and Blandford Forum in the south, but walks take place in any part of Dorset as well as South Somerset and SW Wiltshire.

About Us

The North Dorset Group aims to provide two walks each week, generally a shorter walk of between 6 and 8 miles midweek -usually on Wednesdays, but occasionally Thursdays - and a longer one of between 9 and 14 miles on Sundays. The group takes part in path clearance work as the occasion arises.

Group Path Clearing
PATH CLEARING SUCCESS - SUNDAY 24 JANUARY 2010

We had a very successful morning clearing a footpath at Guys Marsh, which means that there is now a useful circular walk for local residents, away from the main road. Two of our members have 'adopted' this path, plus some others in the area, which means that it will be walked and regularly monitored. Unfortunately, it was rather damp underfoot (!!) and the bonfires refused to co-operate - so no hot potatoes! THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED.

Footpath Problems Footpath Problems
If you come across any obstructions, missing footpaths, or intimidating animals the online problem reporting form (for Dorset) is available at

the Dorset For You website. If you do use it, it would be helpful if you could let Jan know of any problems you find in North Dorset.

If you find any animals in distress, please ring the emergency RSPCA services on 0300 1234 999
